Armor doesn't work properly

If I get some armor it doesn't show up above the hearts and it doesnt protect any damage. I'm playing as if I would be no armor. http://i.imgur.com/FcILqiT.png Rejoin, Minecraft restart and remove and readd armor all don't work.

For now it happened randomly.

It happens to me as well but I haven't tested whether it protects or not...

This happens randomly, but probably more on maps where you make your own armor and put it on manually. I've experianced the "no armor point bar" on another server aswell, however, that was running a version that was not 1.9.4. I've not seen it happen on that server after 1.9.4 update, though.
