Mapping substrate & EVM wallets does not work

Open DKGunit opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

When attempting to map EVM wallet to substrate wallet as directed in setup instructions I am asked to sign in metamask, from there I get a continual spinning wheel (processing) but no successful mapping

That wallets would map quickly and I would be given an acknowledgment of this or an error that something is wrong

As described above, continual spinning wheel of death until I manually stop it

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Connect EVM wallet
  2. Enter Substrate address to map
  3. Sign metamask transaction

Make sure you have polkadot js or talisman extension installed and that you are connected to the specified substrate account.

Hi and thanks for the reply. When in chrome I am connected to my polkadot.JS wallet and it is showing 1500 OTP in each of the 4 wallets I have created (I have been running two nodes in stage 1 testnet so would like to do the same in stage 2).....metamask is showing test TRAC in each of the operational and management wallets I have created (funded by Max). I open the mapping interface, connect metamask and enter the substrate address i want to map, I then get a request from metamask to sign which I do, it then returns to the interface with a spinning wheel processing, but this never gets any further.

I have noted from other users on telegram that several have stated they required to put chrome in Incognito mode to get wallets to map. I have tried this, I enabled metamask and polkadot.js extensions to work in Incognito mode, checked metamask and wallets all still showing test TRAC, however polkadot.js does not show my 4 accounts created outside of incognito. I open a new tab with mapping interface, connect metamask ok and enter the substrate wallet to map, again I am asked to sign in metamask pop up and again then I just get the processing wheel.

I guess my questions now are do you need to be in incognito mode to map, and if so do I need to be able to see my substrate wallets in polkadot.js extension in incognito to be able to map, if so how do I do this?

Finally, I will point out I am on an oil rig and had a few issues with wallet funding, the rig wifi network i think. When using the connection, I cannot see my test trac in metamask but when I switch to a VPN I see it fine so don't think this is the mapping issue (I have tried numerous times to map with and without VPN and using and not using incognito mode).

Any help would be much apricated

Cheers

Hi @DKGunit, did you manage to do the mapping? We released couple of updates on the mapping interface since this issue so it could be that it's resolved in one of them.

Yes all sorted thankyou
