Scaling Ratio override with quality to Custom won't work in GTA 5 Enhanced

Open Rool-IO opened this issue 10 months ago • 12 comments

As the title says, Just tried the new build on latest driver setting both flags accordingly, didn't work.

Tried adding dll override and latest preset as well (to mimic what I was able to confirm working in another game with hardcoded ratios, namely God of War Ragnarok), no avail.

Tried adding those same four settings for RR (like the NVapp override sets them for GoWR despite it not having RR either, but why not mimic it all the way), still no luck at all.

Not sure it's an actual issue that belongs here as I suspect both Nvidia and Rockstar need to add explicit support for the override in that game ?

Manually swapping dll works though, so there's that, but any dlss ratio tweaking fails, whatever the method used, NVPI override included now :(

The game itself could be ignoring the res that DLSS passes to it, and using some hardcoded scales based on the quality level instead, luckily not many games do this but there are a couple iirc.

Maybe try using DLSSTweaks/SpecialK to see if forcing a resolution/scale works, if game is using hardcoded ones it'd probably be ignored.

Yeah, both your DLSS Tweaks & SpecialK fail as well.. This is the most stubborn game I've encountered for this :/

(Fyi, GoWR was another kind of weird with Tweaks or SK as it would just default back to DLAA whenever any ratio override was set but now the NVapp scaling ratio override does work, thankfully - although it's still a few pixel off the actual exact count it should have, same as vanilla ratios behave ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

Ah too bad, probably not any easy way to change it then, luckily GTA has a pretty big mod scene so maybe someone there will eventually find some way to override them.

(or maybe NV could convince them to actually use the resolution DLSS provides, seeing as scale overrides are a feature in NVApp now, probably slim chance of this though)

Indeed, I'd rather count on the modding community to address that than on Rockstar & Nvidia... Sucks for online players though

You should refrain using any dlss tweaks on online games, ppl get banned/shadowbanned just because using dlss regedit tweak that shows dlss version, it's really stupid but it is what it is. Also I've found out that both profile inspector and dlss swapper having hard time switching dll's, just go to C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NGX\models and you can find the latest dll's as .file extension you just need to change them into .dll's and manually change game files

FF Rebirth is the same, but probably because they have a moronic system for handling DLSS that doesn't even have balanced as an option, and almost forces you to use dynamic unless minimum and maximum res are the same. I couldn't force custom, or any specific preset with Inspector in that game.

Rebirth needs emoose's hook and two console variables to override the in-game drs min & max ratios, you can get equivalent to balanced by tweaking them this way

I hate to do this via necro-post, but GTA V Enhanced now has full support for NVIDIA DLSS 4 MFG with AMD FSR 3 FG, which is more than enough for playing this online and off.

I play this game online on a daily basis at 1080p max RT visuals with DLAA and a frame limit of 120fps doubled to 240 w/ DLSS 3.0 FG on a 240Hz G-Sync Compatible display paired with a Ryzen 5800X and RTX 4070 Ti both on stock specs on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (soon to be 25H2 next time around).

In short, can we please consider closing this case once and for all?

Thanks for your attention.

How is this related to finding a way to override DLSS ratios ? It's great the game has FG but this is not a reason to close it. Maybe someday a method will be found, or Nvidia & Rockstar will add support for NVapp/NVPI override, then it'll be relevant to close it.

You're right, I'd let Nvidia and Rockstar decide on what to do with GTA V Enhanced regarding scaling ratio overrides in this game.

IMHO, anyone who makes a reliable workaround for this game might as well relay this to both Nvidia and Rockstar so they can implement this in the next driver and game updates, respectively.

I personally don't condone unauthorized modding in an open-world MMO game built with a semi-linear single-player story mode that is online-protected, as it could result in innocent online bans that can also become hardware bans in return.

If you wanna mod GTA V Enhanced the legit way, wait for FiveM to arrive for this one, it'll be well worth it. 🤞🙏😹

There is nothing to condone or not. GTA5 Enhanced can be modded if playing Story mode and disabling Battle-Eye. ScriptHookV can't be used with Battle-Eye enabled so it's a non topic imo. Modding SP is legit and has always been.

As for Nvidia & Rockstar making that possible at the driver level, it would be nice but actually modding the values in game would be way more convenient since NVapp ratio overrides force to one single ratio whereas mods such as the aforementioned ones or even OptiScaler make tweaking each level to whatever one could want which is highly desirable. Maybe some cheat engine or something memory patching based solution could work but no one has come up with such a thing (yet?), and that's outside this issue's scope anyway.

I'm very torn on modding in GTA V Story Mode, even with Battle Eye disabled. 🙄 I feel that doing so will make you miss out on the majority content-based online experience of GTA, in which there is far more to do than what Story Mode provides you with. 😫

As for GTA Online, I've dealt with my share of griefing modders killing innocent random players at will without remorse and dropping them bags of money to make up for their misdeeds in the session, and putting up props in free mode as a way to disrupt the flow of the Rockstar-specified open world. 😵‍💫

Btw I have seven years of playing this game online on my belt, all exclusively on PC. 😉
