SLI support in games with directX 12

How to make modern games work in SLI mode on direct x 12?

you cant, it has to be hard coded into the game engine and since MS gave devs more control that would finally realize the full potential of sli....devs found it was very difficult and time consuming so its basically a dead feature

Np.

It's unfortunate because the true potential of sli can finally be realized but because of the added difficulty of coding the communication between GPUs is... extremely difficult, we miss out. I would have loved to have an AMD and Nvidia GPU together with the AMD GPU handling raster and texturing while the Nvidia GPU can focus on physics, RT & stuff like DLSS. It could use cuda and tensor cores for RT since the cores aren't needed for rasterization or textures. Since each GPU can have different data in vram unlike prior versions of sli/crossfire they can actually work on different tasks without adding tons of latency.

Of course sli & crossfire could in theory be made pointless by chiplet based GPUs. RDNA4 should be the first multi chiplet consumer gaming GPU. Then the limits would be thermals and power but it wouldn't be difficult to just make all GPUs liquid cooled via an aio like setup or custom blocks if one prefers.

Skies the limit!
