Showing the camera location on Earth

Do you mean to print the latitude, longitude and altitude on screen?

In the most simple case, yes. As a slightly more advanced version, I was thinking of having a small miniglobe in the corner where the current location is highlighted.

I came across it when I was in North Carolina and left the camera moving for 2h or so without friction and when looking up it was impossible to tell where the camera was. A small widget showing that for the current object would be great.

Sounds like a Web UI thing, so added tags for that :) And this is something that we discussed with Tekniska when they were visiting as well. Would be very useful
