Title tool ignores font style

Open jkischel opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Describe the bug: The title tool (in German "Beschriftung") ignores the font style (e.g. italic, black or bold).

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create a project with an image as video
  2. Add a title (in German "Beschriftung")
  3. Set font to Arial and select font style Bold
  4. confirm dialog with OK
  5. The font of the title text is not bold.

Expected behavior: If a style like bold or italics is selected, the font of the text should have exactly that style.

System Details:

  • OpenShot Version [e.g. 2.4.3]: 3.1.1-dev (from today, 16th June 2024)
  • Operating System / Distro: Windows 10

Log Files: as nothing crashed and this issue can easily be reproduced, I think log files aren't senseful here.

Hello @jkischel

  1. Is this a Static Title or Animated Title?
  2. Which Template are you using?
  3. Does this happen in one template or others as well?

Thank you in advance!

Not quite sure how that's named in English, that's why I wrote, it's "Beschriftung" in German ;) I'm using this title: image

hmmm. Template? I started from scratch (File -> new project). I'm not quite sure what you mean.

In addition to my screenshot: sure, the GENUINE font doesn't have a bold style, but i.e. Arial has: image

Hello @jkischel. I thought your were using the Title feature.

  1. From the main menu you click on Title | Tile, and the list you would see are text title templates. These are considered Static Titles.
  2. There are also Animated Titles (Title | Animated Titles, and you see a list of Animated title templates).

However, in your case, I see that you are using the Captions effect. Regardless, the fonts don't always work right. This is a known bug/limitation at this time. There is an entry in the queue for the developer to look into it and fix it.

An option you have to to create your own text outside of OpenShot using your favorite text editor, set the fonts the way you want it, then import this new file into OpenShot in your project.
