Is there any way to install OpenShot without Blender?
As the title says:
Is there any way to install OpenShot without installing Blender?
Seems weird to me that we now need to install Blender.
It's like being asked to install visual studio for a piece software that takes DLL plugins. Blender itself comes with so many add-ons. Now I understand that Blender is only "needed" for some 3D transitions. Is there a way to opt out?
Thanks
You never have to install Blender as long as you don't use the "Animated Title" feature.
Sorry, forgot to mention this is on Linux.

The lead developer has to look at this and provide an answer.
OpenShot did have some dependencies on Blender for certain 3D transitions and effects. While OpenShot itself is primarily a video editing software, it leveraged Blender's capabilities for specific effects that involve 3D graphics. However, it's possible that the software has evolved since then, and there may be new options or workarounds to minimize or eliminate the need for Blender.
Check for Updates: First, check if there have been any updates or new versions of OpenShot released after my last knowledge update. Developers often work on improving software and may have found alternatives to Blender for specific features.
Plugin Management: Some video editing software allows you to manage plugins and extensions. Check if OpenShot has a plugin system that lets you enable or disable specific features. If so, you might be able to disable the Blender-dependent features.
Custom Builds: In some cases, advanced users or developers may create custom builds or forks of OpenShot that exclude the Blender dependency. You can search for such custom builds or contribute to the development community if you have the technical skills.
I don't currently have access to any of my Linux environments, but it would be great to verify if Blender is really being installed or just a few components of it. What I mean is that, after installing OpenShot, see if you can run Blender as an application outside of OpenShot. If you can, and you actually did not install it yourself, then it looks like Blender is getting installed and the lead developer of OpenShot needs to clarify this.
I am currently running Windows 11 and I can tell you that if I uninstall Blender, then I will not be able to do Animated Titles. However, I can still use the Effects and Transitions without any issues.
@alainpannetier It would be great if you test and share your results.

Yes: full blender is installed. Yes: I can run Blender from the installation This might be a problem for folks who are already using blender and wish to keep in control of their SW lifecycle. @shersunny (referring to the initial version of your post) I already switched to shotcut which I find very easy to use and very modular. For me, this issue can be closed.
Thank you @alainpannetier for the information and agree regarding the SW lifecycle. This is something definitely for the lead developer to look into.
