Saved project doesn't open properly (MacOS; 3.3.1 and 3.3.1 daily)
(I didn't find an exact duplicate of this bug in the existing issues.)
Inexplicably, I was able to create a new project, edit and export a video, and save the project (and verified that it saved), but when I tried to reopen it later, it was empty.
Reproducing:
- Create a new project.
- Drag in any video asset, do a bit of work on it, and save the project.
- Quit OpenShot.
- Attempt to reopen the project. OpenShot will launch, but it'll be as though you created a new project.
What I expected was to find the project I'd edited with all the assets and edits intact.
Confirmed under OpenShot 3.3.1 and v3.1.1-daily-11447-431d335a-dce55693-x86_64 under MacOS Ventura 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a).
The logfiles were surprisingly huge, but are attached in ZIP form. openshot-qt.zip libopenshot.zip
Hello @mcglk. Sorry to see that you are having an issue with Openshot. A few questions and couple of suggestions to try and identify the issue:
Questions:
- Does this happen with other projects or just this one?
- Is this the first time you have used Openshot on this device?
- If you were using Openshot previously, what version were you running?
- How much "free diskspace" do you have. Free up as much as possible.
- Start Openshot, click on File | Recent Projects. Do you see a list of projects you've worked on previously? Are you able to select one of the projects and does it open up properly?
Try this:
- Close Openshot, if running.
- Make a backup of /home/username/.openshot_qt folder.
- Delete /home/username/.openshot_qt folder.
- Start Openshot and Go to Edit | Preferences | Debug tab and make sure that the "Debug Mode (Verbose)" option does not have a check mark in the box.
- Restart Openshot. Don't try to open any other projects yet.
- Import one video and one image file and drag them onto a track.
- Click on File | Save Project. Navigate to where you save your projects and name this project Test01.osp.
- Restart Openshot.
- Click on File | Recent Projects. Do you see the Test01.osp project? If yes, then select it.
- Did the project open up for you properly and do you see the two imported files (video and image) in the "Project Files" window and on the timeline?
Based on your answers and result we can continue to troubleshoot.
