Delay in audio playback on imported videos

Open 3meraldo5plash opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

A clear and concise description of the issue On 3.1.0 releases I've had a consistent issue with the audio of imported videos having a roughly 2 second delay to the visuals. This also applies to separate audio that was imported to the project. I've matched the audio sample rate to the sample rate of the videos and my audio device (48000) and the issue still persists. I've tried different builds, restarting the device and even re-installing the software, but the issue has gone nowhere. I doubt that the issue is with my hardware, as I fairly recently bought a computer with decent performance and specs.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Import a video to project
  2. Drag it to the timeline and play the preview
  3. Video starts to play in silence, and the audio starts roughly after 2 seconds

Expected behavior I expected the issue to be fixed by adjusting the audio sample rate, as that fixed the issue on the 3.0.0 build of the editor.

Hello @3meraldo5plash. Any update after upgrading to the latest DEV Daily Build of v3.1.1 per my suggestion above?

Hello @max12code.

  1. Please confirm that you followed my suggestion above from April 24 regarding a clean installation.
  2. Please provide some more information so we can further troubleshoot this issue:
  • What type of file(s) are you working with (.mov? .mp4? .mp3? etc?).
  • Does this happen with one file or all video/audio files?
  • In File manager, right click on one of those video/audio files and select Properties. Then look for the Audio Bit rate and Audio sample rate values and report them here.
  • What Operating system/version are you running (Windows 11 Pro? Ubunut 22.04lts? etc?)
  • What is the "Default Audio Sample Rate" in Edit | Preferences | Preview tab?
  • What is the "Playback Audio Device" set to in Edit | Preferences | Preview tab?
  • In your operating system environment, what is the sample rate of your Default Audio Device set to?
  1. Try this:
  • Start a new project
  • Import one of those video/audio files that you are experiencing the delay in audio.
  • Drag it onto a track at 0:00 position on the timeline.
  • Export it and let us know if the delay is still in the exported .mp4 file.

If possible, share one of your video/audio files so we can test with it.

Update: What are your computer specs (laptop? desktops? CPU, GPU, RAM, Hard disk type, Audio device (external speakers, headphones, etc?).
