audio distortion in the end of video clips

Describe the bug: audio in the end of video clips is distorted

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to Openshot
2. Drag video clips to timeline
3. play in preview and/or render
4. some clips have about a second of the audio distorted in the end, (in preview and in final render).
5. Watching original android-made video clips in VLC have no distortions
6. Found similar description in the internet already times ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenShot/comments/cgvkdy/distorted_audio_when_exporting/
7. maybe it should be libopenshot-audio related?
8. in synaptic i see that there are libopenshot-audio versions 6,7,8 and9 installed, maybe i should uninstall the older versions?
9. also i have many libopenshot-qt versions installed.

Expected behavior: A clear and concise audio.

System Details:

• OpenShot Version 3.0.0 from ppa.
• Operating System / Distro: Lubuntu 20.04

Please try installing the latest DEV Daily build of v3.0.0. You can find the instructions here: https://www.openshot.org/ppa/. Be sure install the Daily PPA.

DEV AppImage 16.january - audio problem still there.

(Some other app complained about variable bitrate and wanted to convert... no idea if that has something to do with it)

Hello @izzostar Please run your original file through a converter like VLC or Audacity. Once you have converted the file then import it into OpenShot and see if that resolved your issue.

Had no idea i can convert files with VLC. So my first try, i cant see no options or anything. But the result file was about half the size in MiB, it has lost about 3 seconds of video in the start (screen is black, or actually shows vlc logo). The end of the file sounds like the original though, in OpenShot i mean :)

But i have no intention to convert all my original videos :(

Thank you @izzostar for all that. I am not sure why you lost 3 seconds at the beginning or that you see the VLC logo. I am going to ask one of the DEV team members to look at this.

Hi @izzostar,

Please perform a clean uninstall and reinstall of OpenShot. The best approach is to uninstall the previous versions of our app using:

sudo apt-get purge openshot-qt

After uninstalling OpenShot, delete the ~/.openshot_qt, /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/openshot-qt, and /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/openshot-qt-3.0.0.egg-info folders from your system if they exist. Remove any existing folders referencing libopenshot*. After deleting the folders, install the latest Daily Build of OpenShot:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openshot.developers/libopenshot-daily
sudo apt update
sudo apt install openshot-qt python3-openshot

Downloaded OpenShot-v3.0.0-daily-11099-ec0c0b1c-b5bbab66-x86_64.AppImage From one video separated the audio in OpenShot. Other together with video. (Razor tooled the front from both videos, because github 10MB file size limit.)

Hello @izzostar. Version 3.1.1 production has been released and this bug should be fixed. Please give it a try and let us know the result.

Sorry, in my computer, its still there. Different videos with different endings, some/half videos dont have that problem at all, some have it shorter and/or quieter. The first one uploaded here was one of the harshest.

Is there any update on this issue? I have the same problem. Removed the ~/.openshot_qt directory and used the daily build. It is less worse now, but the audio distortion is still there. It is after every video. If I can be of any help, please let me know.

My solution for this problem is to switch to an other video editor, the one which works well without audio problems is https://kdenlive.org/en/
