Import vector files into symbol editor
Somebody reported on Sourceforge [tickets:#384]:
Not every user defined symbol could be described as an unavoidable departure from IS(S)OM standards. For example, sometimes sponsor logos must be included on a map.
However, currently there is no way to import a vector-based logo into the symbol editor. The only effective workaround to this problem that I know of is to import vector artwork (as an Adobe llustrator or PDF file) into the symbol editor of OCAD, save the symbol, then import the symbol into OOM. In my case, there is one logo that must appear on all maps that our association produces (see attached), and I can only imagine how long it would've taken to 'draw' it in OOM.
I suggest enabling support for the importation of files of at least one vector format (EPS?) directly into the symbol editor.

Just a tip: Get picture to vectorise: Scan, export or use already prepared jpg-picture Open program InkScape Import the jpg Use tool Tracing http://inkscape.org/doc/tracing/tutorial-tracing.html Delete original picture, leave the vectors Save as DXF Import in OCAD (OOM?) Change line to whatever symbol you want to use in OCAD Save

I have some custom symbols set, each symbol is a file in svg format. Would be nice to have a way to import it into symbol editor.
Hi, I have created a tool for importing SVG that may be useful in this case. Have a look: https://github.com/rhansson/svg2omap
