Whitespace rendering issues in Map Notes window on MacOS

When typing in the Map Notes window on MacOS, spaces are not rendered if typed directly after a period (.) or comma (,), or are at least rendered at a much thinner width than they should be. This makes it hard to tell whether a space character has been typed and it is very easy to type space characters twice.
