Login through ORCID returns to entry page with "Sign in" button
What went wrong?
not clear if I am not logged in because there is no account linked with my ORCID or what?
Expected behavior
Some feedback, like "No account associated with your ORCID XXX was found. May be you registered through Google account?"
How to reproduce
- Logged in into ORCID
- On https://openneuro.org/ click Sign in
- Choose ORCID
- end up on https://openneuro.org/ with "Sign in" button

Is this still an issue since OpenNeuro 4.26.0? Using an ORCID not linked to an existing account should just create a new account.
I have tried to do the dance after linking - seems to work. I can now login through ORCID.
Some oddities though:
- among "My datasets" when I logged in through google I see both https://openneuro.org/datasets/ds005256 (not yet published) and older published https://openneuro.org/datasets/ds003653
- but when logged in through orcid -- then only https://openneuro.org/datasets/ds005256
- so may be it is really two different accounts for two different emails? (debian AT onerussian and yarikoptic at gmail?)
- even though I already linked to ORCID menu still suggests to Link to ORCID:
The are separate accounts but we are planning on addressing merging them automatically in the near future. #180 will have more updates.
@nellh I believe this is the issue @demidenm had, and I can reproduce it with my ORCID. If I attempt to login with ORCID, I just go back to the homepage and am not logged in.
I believe in the past I have linked my ORCID to my Google, although, like @yarikoptic I see no indication of that in my top-right menu.
Is it possible that we are hitting some kind of API limit, so the login is never completing?
A couple related ORCID auth bugs were fixed and I believe this should no longer occur.
