Requirements

Open carrollgt91 opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Adds the initial set of requirements to the best of my current understanding.

There are some open questions that I would love to have folks comment on, if they have any thoughts.

Once we've had some time to mull this over as a group, we'll translate this requirements document into issues so we can track the development on them.

@carrollgt91, Could you please share some context around where this PIS is planned to be used? I think this would give much better view of the things.

Yes, absolutely! See the newly added "Purpose" section of the Readme, and please let me know if it addresses your question well. Happy to add additional context.

Thanks @carrollgt91 for clearing up on the use case. Actually, I am trying to connect the dots here, I got to see a small video of Andrew Trask.

So, the basic intent is to provide access to information for third parties without compromising the identity of the users for the purpose of AI modelling?

Moreover, what you said was absolutely right, why would a user do SSO and share his information in the first place. Was wondering what will appear after the user does SSO.

Sorry, if I am asking too many questions in a single comment.

In this case, we're not actually trying to transmit this information for AI purposes. Other projects in OpenMined are focused on that effort - we are focusing simply on transferring information verified by one or more authorities to a third party without sharing anything about the identity of the individual in question.

In this case, the motivation would be to simplify their interactions with other software that expects the ability to SSO with our service. This is obviously a bit of a chicken and egg problem, but there's good reason to believe this functionality could be critical during the coming months. See the newly pushed "importance" section for additional context there.
