Gestures: Additional Target "Screen off" (improvement / feature request)
General information
- App version: 0.5.8(alpha) from F-Droid
- Android Version: 7.1.1 Nougat
Expected result
What is expected? Unfortunately, a "screen off" function as a target for any gesture isn't available up to now. The only function being similar to "screen off" is "lock screen", which also turns the screen off, but indeed locks the screen, even if you are in a "secure area" or coupled with a "secure Bluetooth device". I want to use this function as a counterpart to "double tap to wake", like it's offered by some other launchers (like the LG G3's stick launcher do), i.e. a double tap on the launcher's (aka homescreens) background turns off the screen, but doesn't lock it. What does happen instead? "Screen off" isn't available.
Steps to reproduce
- Enter settings.
- Select "Gestures".
- Choose gesture of your choice.
- Select "screen off" (currently not available ;) ).
how do you find so many issues?
Hi @Serkan-devel, just have a look at the type of issues: Most of them are feature requests or improvement suggestions, only a few are bug reports. ;-) The "secret" may be that I'm using OpenLauncher as my all-day standard launcher, and every time I find a bug or think "it would be nice to have the possibility to...", I'm going to retain it by opening a new issue. :-)
Same but I only have one issue
Found a post on StackOverflow that might be useful. Anything small like this that would work as an action item is pretty easy to add, just takes a bit of research on how to implement. @serebryakov-av by the way Android has lots of neat little features like this. If you want to add any of them they all just get thrown in the app as action items, I am trying to make these more useful in OpenLauncher right now.
@dkanada thank you! Actually I think this hint is a kind of crunch or a cheat! But at the same time it's cool!
To turn off the screen, I use the app lock. Install it and give it sufficient permission, and bind it to the gesture you would like to use.
Its another feature is behave as personal assistant app, which should launch itself when you long press the home key. The default one is Google assistant, but you can change it. If you use lock as personal assistant app, you can lock screen when you long press the home key.
