Majestic Enable motion detection crashes video

Open darkfuncat opened this issue 1 year ago • 9 comments

Hello, On mjsxj03hl (obviously in this space) as soon as I activate in Majestic Alarm "Enable motion detection", after reboot, there is not more video stream or anything. I have installed "ultimate" version because I really need MQTT feature and it is not present in lite config. I suspect (not sure) that there is a memory problem with ultimate and memory capacity on this camera. If this is the case : it is possible to free up some memory ? (I dont need other features at all like youtube, HLS and so...) Or perhaps It is another problem ? Symptoms are : no more preview or no more RTSP video stream. As soon as I remove Alarm enable, the streams and preview come back after reboot. Thanks

This camera is a weird piece of hardware. It always run with all memory eaten up and hits red zone even with most of the services disabled. Also, the camera is visibly slower than a similar one from another vendor. If you are looking to run MQTT on it, I'd advise to at least compile a customized firmware with minimum services in it. Although, majestic will still have everything in it, like HLS and RTMP. Alternatively, get a more capable hardware, like Wyze V3 or similar.

ok thanks, perhaps I will try to get help from openipc forum ? I dont know how to compile firmware or so, I just want a MQTT client with OpenIPC; like I have on my others mjsxj02hl =) (but sold out everywhere)

Thanks for the link, I will investigate futher. But for this issue I have some news : I just reinstalled a lite version 8Mo NOR today. I have more free space but as soon as I want to activate Majestic Alarm "Enable motion detection", the stream crash. It is not due to ultimate 16mo version therefore. Do you have the same issue ? To reproduce : new install, actiavte alarm, no more preview and/or RTSP stream.

There is not enough memory. I don't know why but this idle t31n camera performs worse than a t31l under load. Look for yourself.

This is a t31l streaming to an nvr. Screenshot_2023-09-07-01-42-10-673_org mozilla firefox

This is the xiaomi doing nothing. Screenshot_2023-09-07-01-40-08-381_org mozilla firefox

Hi @themactep I did create an issue in majestic repo, but with no luck by now. Anyway, I think (IMHO) that a custom camera firmware like OpenIPC without alarm/motion capabilities on this model is pretty useless. Thanks

It depends. I for one do not use in-camera motion detection. Whenever I need it, I employ a complex solution with off-camera AI-driven recognition and archiving. The purpose of openipc project is to give people alternative access to viewing stream from otherwise vendor-locked cameras. Everything else is optional and gets developed by people who want these fearures for themselves. If you feel something could be done better, do not restrain yourself, join the development :)

Hello OK I understand your point. I am just a bit disappointed because I have 2 other older cameras mjsxj02hl (previous model) and they are working flawlessly with all features of OpenIPC. When I have bought the new model, I was expecting at least same features and more perf, but instead OpenIPC offers only a RTSP stream in fine. But fine (my fault I should have read this forum before), I will rollback to original firmware and search another camera for my purposes. And thanks for your proposal to join the dev but I am far from a developper profile (and no time with). Maybe later if I have more time I could try to understand what does that mean to re-compile and customize OpenIPC firmware =)
