About WMR headset support in general

I have just ordered a HP Reverb headset, and I plan to contribute as much as I can in supporting the OpenHMD effort. As this is my first shot at VR equipment, I have a learning curve ahead of me for sure, so forgive me if it shows.

One thing that is unclear to me, is if all brands of WMR headsets are more or less the same in relation to OpenHMD. I notice that no brand names are generally mentioned.

Q: Does that mean that I could expect to see the basic functionality (as listed on http://www.openhmd.net/index.php/devices/), such as them actually displaying something?

Currently I am running Linux only, so I don't have the option to test them with proprietary Windows software at home.

Q: Does anyone have a vague idea of which different WMR headsets OpenHMD has be tested against?

I have windows and I would be willing to dual boot for testing this out I dream of the day I can play VR on linux or just without the horrendous WMR portal (I have a samsung odyssey+)
