FYI, this has now been merged and is available, see https://github.com/mavlink/mavlink/tree/master/external/dialects

even if you don't want to submit to external/dialects, the changes in the generator makes it now totally easy to use one's own dialect

we do use mavsdk and do not use custom dialects anymore
