Let's get every kid in a park, and get them excited about it!

Open pierrea opened this issue 9 years ago • 4 comments

Starting in September, every fourth-grader in the nation will receive an “Every Kid in a Park” pass that’s good for free admission to all of America’s federal lands and waters—for them and their families—for a full year. We want to utilize the RIDB to get them excited about utilizing their passes and giving them a reason to go.

Not sure if this would be relevant and not open sourced, but Anchorage, AK, Park Foundation made a mobile app with a park passport where people can check in if they are in the boundary of a park. Anchorage has 200+ parks, and sometimes there are contests for the people who check into the most parks. A similar theme could be used with the National Parks. http://anchorageparkfoundation.org/mobile-app/

@brendanbabb Interesting, thanks! But I'm always a bit skeptical when it comes to make people play with/use their phone in parks. I personally have no –or very bad– signal most of the time. We will think about something different :)
