Lookup table widget

It would be nice to have a lookup table widget which can affect how things are mapped from values to colors.

Nice idea, but I'd start out with a set of preconfigured options before going to a full-blown function editor.

yes, in fact I was looking at the widget stuff in cinema yesterday. although I didn't look into the details on how easy it is to copy / re-use that code.
