Description of the issue

For long-term energy scenarios, aggregate categories of nameplate capacity are needed since variables reported are about aggregated capacity for individual technologies or energy carriers.

Ideas of solution

• Installed capacity is a power capacity that represents the sum of the nameplate capacities of all operational energy-converting units of a given technology, carrier, or region at a specific point in time. Axioms: quantity value of some nameplate capacity has spatial region some spatial region covers energy carrier some energy carrier or covers technology some technology

  • Cumulative capacity is an installed capacity that represents the total of all nameplate capacities of energy-converting units installed up to and including a given date, regardless of commissioning period.
