add "overhead line" for truck/train infrastructure

Open f-innatech opened this issue 1 month ago • 4 comments

or## Description of the issue The model "Aladin" and potentially others have this as an output variable. It describes the infrastructure for trains/trams and later also electric trucks.

Ideas of solution

Add under OEO:power line

An overhead line is a power line that is used to transmit electrical energy to an electrically propelled vehicle.

Alternative Term: overhead wire, overhead conductor, conductor

Workflow checklist

  • [X ] I discussed the issue with someone else than me before working on a solution
  • [X ] I already read the latest version of the workflow for this repository
  • [X ] The goal of this ontology is clear to me

I am aware that

  • [X ] every entry in the ontology should have a definition
  • [X ] classes should arise from concepts rather than from words e

Keep in OEO and import to OTO fix power line before

Maybe consider finding a label that makes it clear that is for feeding vehicles. There are overhead lines that are not for feeding vehicles.

I think this is one of those cases where is not a bad idea to come up with a term and adding the colloquial terms as alternative labels.

Example: "electric vehicle powering wire"

From Wikipedia:

This article is about transmission of power to road and rail vehicles. For transmission of power to general consumers, see Electric power transmission. For powerlines mounted on pylons, see Overhead power line. For lines carrying information, see Overhead cable. ... An overhead line or overhead wire is an electrical cable that is used to transmit electrical energy to electric locomotives, electric multiple units, trolleybuses or trams. The generic term used by the International Union of Railways for the technology is overhead line.[1] It is known variously as overhead catenary, overhead contact line (OCL), overhead contact system (OCS), overhead equipment (OHE), overhead line equipment (OLE or OHLE), overhead lines (OHL), overhead wiring (OHW), traction wire, and trolley wire.

Based on this, I'd suggest "overhead power line" (alternative label "conductor") to refer to a line that doesn't feed vehicles, and "overhead line" (alternative labels "overhead catenary", "overhead contact line", etc. from the Wikipedia article) to refer to a line that does feed vehicles.
