We don't have some common fossil fuel terms
Description of the issue
I have been trying to annotate multiple power plant databases including but not limited to those coming from the https://globalenergymonitor.org/ and they often refer to fossil fuels that we either have but with a different label or we do not have.
Missing alternative labels:
-
bituminous coalforcoking coal -
brown coalforlignite
Missing entities:
-
coal waste/refuseas subclass offossil waste fuel(and I would argue also ofcoal) -
light (crude?) fuel oilandheavy (crude?) fuel oil, these I am not really sure if they should be alternative labels of existing terms or if they should be implemented. - Related to the last is probably
naphtanot really sure if is the same s light crude oil. -
coalbed methanemaybe a sublcass of natural gas? or an alternative label ofcolliery gas -
agricultural waste fuelas subclass ofwaste fuelor maybe ofbiogenic industrial waste fuel?
Ideas of solution
I think coal waste/refuse bituminous coal and brown coal are clear but the oils are open to discussion. I think this should expand on https://github.com/OpenEnergyPlatform/ontology/issues/1318
Workflow checklist
- [ ] I discussed the issue with someone else than me before working on a solution
- [x] I already read the latest version of the workflow for this repository
- [x] The goal of this ontology is clear to me
I am aware that
- [x] every entry in the ontology should have a definition
- [x] classes should arise from concepts rather than from words
For the implementation of the first set of fossil fuels, we had some expert support (was that someone from DLR @carstenhoyerklick ?) Can we ask this person again to solve this issue?
Certainly we can ask some expert, but I have to check as some of the people have left, so it will probably not be the same but similar people.
From oeo-dev 109 (live in Oldenburg)
- The axioms of technology already combine plants, processes and their inputs
- TODO:
- Add agricultural waste fuel as parallel class to industrial waste fuel
- implement missing fossil fuel classes listed in the issue.
- rename and redefinie "uses" by "requires"
- Open an issue to improve the definition of uses
- Based on the one proposed in: https://github.com/CommonCoreOntology/CommonCoreOntologies/discussions/752
