More selfexplaining UI?
Hi, I really appreciate the power and features of ODM and the way how it's presented via web!
But my own experience and other forum posts seem to show, that the GCP editor is currently errorfault and not intuitive to add ground control points and get a good aligned imagery as result.
I suggest to redesign the UI to guide the users to fit requirements of a good GCP set (as doc say)
- add GCP that is visible on min. 3 photos
- reference that GCP to world coorinates
- repeat for 5..10 GCPs
I have only limited UX design experience, but suggest the following changes which hopefully improve communication and pick up exisiting UI patterns (e.g. from hugin application)
- First start dialog to show as sketch, what a (good) GCP is
- Use the processed (overlapping) photos -> indicate areas where a GCP would be useful
- Show GCP ID / name with unique color and on all photos that
- Ask user so mark the same significant point candidate in 3 overlapping photos
- Ask user to mark point on global world map / aerial imagery for georeference
- Estimate accuracy -> enough GCP for photoset?
Would it make sense to create a mockup?
Hi @Matthias84, I think a mockup would help drive the conversation forward if that is something you could create and post here. It would also help get agreement on any changes before someone takes the time to code the changes.
I will checkout a different GCP editor first. Maybe other projects already have a different workflow. Otherwise I'm happy to create some mockups :)
