Use a buffer for canopy calculation

Open cassondranewman opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Hello,

I would like to calculate the canopy for each plot and buffer the area near the border of each plot.

I have been able to successfully calculate the canopy area per plot with the 'fieldArea' function, however this function does not allow the user to input a desired buffer. I have also tried to use the 'fieldInfo' function to apply the buffer to the output of the 'fieldArea' function, but I have not been able to get the 'fieldArea' function to accept the canopy input.

Please advise on the best practice to applying a buffer to a canopy calculation. Thanks!!

Hi there,

Thank you for the suggestion. We just changed the function fieldArea to allow Buffer too. Could you check if it is working for you?

Thank you, Filipe

Thank you so much! I was able to successfully input my desired buffer with the fieldArea function. I appreciate your time and effort!

I have one last question regarding buffering: Our field has different spacing between plots vertically (a few inches) and horizontally (a few feet). Have you considered implementing a separate X-axis buffer and Y-axis buffer? I believe researchers with similar field spacing to mine would find a two-part buffer very useful!

Best, Cassie
