We should have a page similar to https://jupyter.org/try, showcasing a notebook / virtual research environment for each of our systems:

  • [ ] FLINT via cling?
  • [ ] GAP
  • [ ] JOOMMF
  • [ ] Linbox via cling?
  • [ ] Nemo?
  • [ ] Pari/GP
  • [ ] SageMath
  • [ ] Singular cc: @jdemeyer, @fangohr, @ClementPernet, @markuspf, @sebasguts, @wbhart

As for gap, in the meantime there is Sebastian's GAPBinderDemo and the francy dev demo by @mcmartins. Also a "mini course" is available here...

@nthiery Do you plan one website for all systems, or should each system host one on its own page? I think the necessary steps are now the following: 1.) Set up Docker images suitable for binder, collect links above 2.) Set up the web page for ODK (I would try to do so and steal as much from jupyter as I can ;)) 3.) Collect examples, or let people contribute examples

What do you think?

Let's put a separate link(s) for each system (similar to Jupyter's page). Then, behind the scene, they may or not share the same binder image depending on what's simpler.

Yup. As a starter we can use Sage's image which is binder ready for some of the systems. And for systems that have a dedicated image, so much the better.

2.) Set up the web page for ODK (I would try to do so and steal as much from jupyter as I can ;)) 3.) Collect examples, or let people contribute examples

+1!

Thanks for the feedback.
