Wallet Returns Wrong Balance for BCH

After making several BCH purchases, my BCH balance went from ~$8 to $0.06. After resyncing, the balance was corrected.

The socket message had the following BCH data before resynching:

confirmed: 23710
height: 616660
unconfirmed: 0

And this data after:

confirmed: 3526672
height: 616661
unconfirmed: 0

I also saw the balance jump to almost double the expected amount for a while.
