Error: 'numpy' Module Has No Attribute 'float' in nd2reader

Open mansouralawi opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Description

While using the nd2reader package, I encountered the following error:

Error: module 'numpy' has no attribute 'float'.
np.float was a deprecated alias for the builtin float. To avoid this error in existing code, use float by itself. Doing this will not modify any behavior and is safe. If you specifically wanted the numpy scalar type, use np.float64 here.
The aliases was originally deprecated in NumPy 1.20; for more details and guidance see the original release note at:
https://numpy.org/devdocs/release/1.20.0-notes.html#deprecations

This issue occurs because np.float is no longer a valid attribute in the latest versions of NumPy.

Possible Fix

I suggest updating the code to use np.float64 instead of np.float, as recommended in the NumPy deprecation notes.

I agree; I get this same issue after an initial install. In my case, changing np.float to float fixes this issue.

The line in question is in reader.py, line 230.
