Description

The Pico-8 standalone page says:

This is an alternative to the RetroArch fake-08 core

However when I uninstall fake-8 and launch pico-8 standalone via the Expert menu I get an error message: "The requested file was not found". After reinstalling fake-8 it works again.

Correction

This is an alternative to the RetroArch fake-08 core (However, fake-8 still needs to be installed in order for pico-8-standalone to work).

Provide any additional context or information that may help us with this update

@JonasPf there may be a typo in the title of this issue. I think fake-08 is meant but it says flake-8 (possibly confusing with flake8 the tool for Python style guide enforcement).

Oh you are right, I fixed the title. This is indeed about the Pico emulator and not Python.

I think the problem is that fake08 is ALWAYS used to run local carts (even through it's already a bug), and that option "Run PICO-8 with Splore" is actually just a PNG file.

are you supplying the dedicated binary and dyn files from a Pico8 licensed raspberrypi purchase? the standalone looks for those when it tries to run and likely throws errors like these if they are missing.
