Apple Watch support
Hi, I was interested in adding apple watch support to the app. Is anyone currently working on this?
There was a poc branch recently. I don't believe it ever got merged due to OS1 limitations.
I believe Watch OS2 may have resolved some of those, could be possible to ressurrect? @aaronbrethorst I'm not sure, can we re-use the other branch?
PR for Watch OS1 implementation was https://github.com/OneBusAway/onebusaway-iphone/pull/416.
I think there's some work that needs to be done in the iOS app around bookmarking specific routes at a stop—instead of the bookmarking of a stop—before we can build a watchOS app, or a Today screen extension, but I have a private branch where I'm working on some UI changes that'll allow us to more easily place the affordances needed to accomplish this work. Getting this bookmarking work finished up is the first item on my list of things to do after shipping 2.4, which can basically happen any time now.
@aaronbrethorst is there an issue open for the route bookmarks? I can comment there some of what I learned implementing route bookmarking on Android.
@barbeau there is now: OneBusAway/onebusaway-iphone#457
Thanks!
Hi I'm interested in helping to work on the apple watch feature. Is there a roadmap for this project or a list of current issues that I can dive into? @aaronbrethorst @barbeau
@lgranger That would be great! @aaronbrethorst can answer definitively, but I believe the Github issues/milestones here are probably the best reference.
Hi Lauren - Apple Watch support is dependent on some feature work around bookmarks that I'm completing for the 2.6 milestone. I'd love your help. Let me take a little time to write down my thoughts and I'll circle back with you. Thank you!

Any update on Apple Watch support? Thanks for all the hard work.
Hey @sbappudi - Not yet. I'm hoping that I'll be able to find time sometime soon to at least add a complication. If you have any experience or desire, though, please feel free to give it a whirl!

"I love this app and it's real time information. It was really helpful pre-pandemic in getting me to school. I'd just like to request Apple Watch integration. I'm mobility and cognitively impaired, so it's difficult for me to always have to pull my phone out to check where my busses are."
