Enhancement: emojis
Very interesting application and a lot of potential! Deutsche Qualität?
Is it possible to handle emojis? Something like this: https://missive.github.io/emoji-mart/ (with Google emojis of course ’cause we’re on Android…)
Other possible sources: https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-emoji
I don’t see any ads in the APK/EXE either? Do this dream will last?
There is already an emoji picker implemented in the current source code, it just hasn't made it to a release yet. Mainly because I want to use it myself for a while to test for any problems. The textfield itself will continue to display emojis the same way as now though (based on the chosen font, black and white) for performance reasons.
There won't be any adds. And the windows client will stay open source. It is possible however that at some point the Android client in the Play Store will be sold rather than free for new users. There aren't any plans for it right now though.
Thank you for your quick response !
I have indeed seen that there were emojis in place by compiling the latest available sources. ScreenShot
I would have liked google’s (Android) emojis’ style or a keywords’ search option (an input field near the glasses at the right for example) in the picker but I think it would break the spirit of simplicity and efficiency from this application.
So I will test this last version also on my side and if I don’t give any news it mean everything work well!
Thanks you again for your work and you share !
Since the fall creator update for Win10, if you hit Win+.
it brings up the Windows emoji selector. That'll get your emojies across the bridge, too.
Huh, I didn't actually know about that. Well, I guess that would have saved me some time implementing a duplicate feature. On the upside, I read the emoji picker is not supported in all languages on windows but only en-US (although I do not know if that's still true). And this implementation makes it compatible with all Windows versions back to Win7. Plus I do think most Windows users aren't actually aware of it, so a button to show the emoji picker might be useful either way, but maybe the Windows10 picker should be used instead whenever available.
Definitely. No one knows about the Win10 emoji keyboard at this point. People have asked how I installed it and they're amazed when I show them that it's already on their computer (if they're up to date, that is).
