Certificate usage does not include project when certificate is reference in git variables.

Open scme0 opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Severity

Non-blocking, just not reporting usage correctly

Version

Unsure as the version wasn't reported but I assume it was on cloud so 2023.2, 2023.1 or 2022.4 (?)

Latest Version

I could reproduce the problem in the latest build

What happened?

If a CaC project (using CaC variables) references a certificate, the usage is not displayed in the certificate usages tab.

Reproduction

  1. Create a Certificate
  2. Create a CaC project with CaC variables
  3. Reference the certificate in a variable in the cac project and save.
  4. Navigate to the Certificate "Usage" tab
  5. See that it does not list any usages for this certificate.

Ticket for this (internal) is here - https://octopus.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/119298

The customer is currently running 2023.1.9794 but it looks like this may have been present in 2022.4.8471 as past tickets from the customer indicate they were on that version when they highlighted this issue.

This is a crippling limitation for CaC. I understand the added complexity of referencing variables in CaC projects, but this severely impacts our ability to adopt CaC while auditing certificate usage across our enterprise.
