Prerequisites

  • [x] I have verified the problem exists in the latest version
  • [x] I have searched open and closed issues to make sure it isn't already reported
  • [x] I have written a descriptive issue title
  • [x] I have linked the original source of this report
  • [x] I have tagged the issue appropriately (area/*, kind/bug, tag/regression?)

The bug

Azure Web App Slot cannot be removed from Azure Web App deployment target once a slot has been selected and saved.

What I expected to happen

Pressing the 'x' next to the chosen slot should clear the field and let me save the change. The save button remains greyed out after clicking on the 'x'. I can only choose which slot to use - I'm unable to have the slot blank after selecting one.

Steps to reproduce

Reproduced this on a cloud instance here

  1. Go to Azure Web App deployment target
  2. Add an Azure Web App that uses slots
  3. Choose a slot to use, press save
  4. Try to delete the Web App slot as shown in the screenshot below
  5. Unable to clear the field and save it

Affected versions

Octopus Server: Tested on cloud instance 2020.5.1 and also an older local instance of 2020.3.3

Workarounds

Delete the Azure Web App deployment target and create a new one without choosing a slot.

We have flagged this as an issue with product, but at this point we do not have capacity to assign an engineer to resolve the issue. We'll keep the issue open, but unfortunately we can not provide any guidance as to when it will be resolved.

Any news on this, this is still an issue 2 years on.

Or any work around?
