Ajax error: 200 parsererror in cck.validation-3.16.0.min.js

When creating a new field in a new form I get the above error if I have Joomla Debug turned on.

  1. I am unclear why having Debug on should cause such an error (unless the debug footer is being added to the Ajax results).

  2. The error description is not particularly helpful.
