Fixes some minor code issues

Here are a few minor fixes I added while looking over the source to see how things work.

Beautiful idea and implementation, :+1: for that!

Depends on https://github.com/Oberon00/synth/pull/2 since I needed it to compile the project. Feel free to squash the commits.

Thank you for your pull requests! This one seems to include all changes of #2. It would be better if you could independently base both pull requests directly on my master branch (EDIT: Which should be as simple as rebasing this pull request since I have merged #2) without duplicating commits.
