Self merge does not work with branch protection

Hi,

When setting Require pull request reviews before merging + Require review from Code Owners within the repo's branch protection rules, the action fails with the comment "There was an issue merging, maybe try again dudicoco".

What is the solution for this?

Unsure, I'd look into the API responses and compare it to that error message?
