Make it more obvious that sign-in is required for most features on the site
Describe the bug
- When loading the site: two toasts with text “Authentication error. Sign in again and repeat the operation.”
- These errors also show up in the browser console.
- On the Filters page, when I try filling the Users field, it refuses to work: no suggestions, and input is cleared when I click somewhere else!
Changeset URL
No response
Environment
Firefox 128.0.3 on macOS
Additional information
- Using Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin, I’m blocking the sentry.io and plausible.io domains to protect my data and habits from trackers. Does this cause issues?
- If you need to sign in with your OSM account to use most features, please make this fact more obvious to first-time visitors! My first impression of the site is confusion with some disappointment.

Can I view the changesets and use filters without logging into OSMCha?
No, OSMCha requires a sign in with your OpenStreetMap account in order so see changesets.
This information should be displayed to newcomers in e.g. a modal or a sticky toast, not a warning/error toast that auto-disappears after a few seconds.
