Documentation: Explain the consequences of thumb up / thumb down

Open tordans opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

Maybe this is written down somewhere and I didn't find it. Please point me there instead :-).

I wonder …

  • What is the intended workflow for the public with the thumbs-UI?
  • What systems are known do use this information? (something is thumb up/down)
  • What consequences does it have, if I say "thumbs up / down"? Eg inside Osmcha. Or in other systems that are known to use it.
  • How exactly is "thumb up/down" defined? Having the same definition of if something is really "good" or "bad" is helpful. Eg. I can check the general tagging in a changeset and say "its good" or I can walk there and actually compare the opening hours (etc.) and then confirm it is "good". Which one should it be? Do we define that something should only be marked "good" based on a map inspection or just by looking at the info inside Osmcha?

I faintly remember problem with OSMcha leaving weird changeset comments after using thumb up/down - is it still present?

Maybe. Every comment via OsmCha to a changeset that was reviewed will automatically get this text added at the end:

---
#REVIEWED_BAD #OSMCHA
Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.mapbox.com/changesets/74888106

It's a good example of something, that a user is not aware of at first. And personally, I don't thinks its a nice way to communicate (capital letters = shouting…)

Also:

  • What should other contributors do with reviewed changesets? Can they leave another review? (no) Should they look at discussion? (they're free to do do) Can they review the review? (maybe not?) Is there a way to report a review? (maybe not?)
  • or: Is viewing reviews / already reviewed changesets useful for other contributors directly at all? (so not the created database of reviews)
  • link to (list of) good examples of use (cases) of dataset, if possible.
