feedback on project and local chapter templates
Few feedback on project and local chapter template:
- [x] google+ icon doesn't show on communication section
- [x] less space between core activities title and specs
- [x] the header is big, maybe reduce a little bit the fond or the top-bottom pagging/margin
In the admin project page
- [x] core features admin page: maybe this should be a list to select values, otherwise add a comment how to add them (what should go in the title and what on spec otherwise we could find also a really long list). Maybe the list of title could be the same of topics (in the right side of the form)
- [ ] license should a list of selectable values https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/111
- [ ] under license there is "Specs" but I cannot understand what they are https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/112
- [x] in the communication tab is it possible to add RSS feeds and IRC channel ?
- [ ] in the social icon is it possible to add flickr, github, too? (maybe also others) https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/71
I am also confused about the core features + specs.
If we look at the osgeo-live overviews these usually show up as bullet point list, with each bullet point defined by the project as a sentence or sentence fragment.
examples:
- https://live.osgeo.org/en/overview/geonode_overview.html
- https://live.osgeo.org/en/overview/qgis_overview.html
Probably we should fix this before Friday, so we can add the features properly...
They covered it in the meeting, the two columns should be renamed "heading" and "bullet point".
I believe we have everything that was commented here covered now. Could you please confirm this?
@lucadelu we should power through this list prior to tomorrows meeting!
Using the following pages as a references (since you did not provide links):
- http://osgeo.getinteractive.nl/projects/geonode/
- http://osgeo.getinteractive.nl/local-chapters/cugos/
And turning the initial project bug report into a checklist.
@lucadelu for "less space between core activities title and specs" - what specific sections are you referencing to here?
I assume a project page because "specs", but the other things title and core activities do not match elements on the project page.
- Do you mean "Core features", "Implemented Standards" and "About GeoNode" / "About QGIS" headings?
- Do you mean within the "About" section the sub headings "project type", "Who's involved", "Tools/Libraries based on", "Communication", "End-user resources", "Developer resources", "Similar Projects", "Similar Proprietary Products", "License", "Specs".
@lucadelu for "the header is big, maybe reduce a little bit the fond or the top-bottom pagging/margin".
I think this is intentional to avoid making the content feel crowded. There are some consequences to this - projects will need to be succinct with only one or two sentences for the header. Going to mark this as "done", you can reopen a more specific issue if you have a clarification to provide.
@lucadelu for the following two requests "in the communication tab is it possible to add RSS feeds and IRC channel" and "in the social icon is it possible to add flickr, github, too? (maybe also others)".
These two seem to be mixing up communication and resources, can you consider and reply to the following?
- Communication are you okay with a mix of social media (two way communication) and publish communication channels (one way communication)
- I am not sure I consider "github" a social media platform - it is usually listed as resource (the location of the source code). Do you consider it a communication platform?
- Same thing with stack exchange, issue tracker (jira), etc...
This may be worth a seperate issue ---> https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/71
From https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/74 we have a request for a resource link:
- Security Issue (distinct from normal issue tracker)
We fixed the items that are checked, the other items are still discussed by OSGeo.
What discussion are you waiting on? I see the following unchecked items...
- license should a list of selectable values
This is not a terrible request, if we handle it as we do standards (where people choose from and add to a list) the list of licenses can grow over time to reflect what licenses are used.
Taking this to a seperate bug report so we can mark it as an enhancement https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/111
- under license there is "Specs" but I cannot understand what they are
I am not sure I understand what goes here myself, I think I have seen projects using it to reflect the latest version number? We will need some examples to make this clear.
Taking this to a seperate bug report https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/112 as it is both an enhancement and a content problem.
-in the communication tab is it possible to add RSS feeds and IRC channel ?
I see we have a blogger icon, RSS feed is the more general term.
- In the social icon is it possible to add flickr, github, too? (maybe also others)
Moved to a seperate bug report https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/issues/71 for this common request
