raster blend modes

Open wiesehahn opened this issue 1 month ago • 1 comments

Feature description

I just came across gdal raster blend and it seems quite familar from e.g. QGIS where blend modes were implemented in 2013.

It is a very new feature in gdal and I just wanted to bring to the record that it might be great to have additonal blend modes in the future (some overview here). Although this probably has no priority and might even be entirely out of scope for gdal!?

Also I am wondering if it would make sense to align the naming. In gdal it is called operators while I think its blend modes in e.g. QGIS, Photoshop, Arcgis. I am not sure but I believe what is called src-over here is normal e.g. in QGIS.

In gdal it is called operators

for reference, this termonology comes from Mapserver's equivalent functionality: https://mapserver.org/mapfile/composite.html (COMPOP)
