Selecting multiple individual cells in a column to copy and paste into a range will not paste the correct cells

Expected Behavior

I selected multiple individual cells and copied with command+C. I then selected a cell and pasted with command+V. I expected the selected cells to be pasted in a range starting with the selected cell.
