Option to paste without formatting

Your idea.

It would be great to have an option to disable copy and paste while preserving the formatting.

I know there's a shortcut and a menu that appears, but for a user who doesn't want to use this option, or at least not by default, it's complicated to have to change their habits to be able to use a feature as common as copy and paste.

Could you please add an option in the settings which could be ‘Enable copy formatting retention’ and which would be ticked by default?

This would allow it to be deactivated if desired and would not change anything for all users who wish to retain this feature.

It's issue duplicate https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/DocumentServer/issues/1141.

Absolutely not, the other issue is the possibility of doing so. I'm asking for an option to define the default behaviour, they're two different things. If you don't want to do it, that's another matter, but it's not a duplication of the ticket quoted.

@anthonychaussin. have you seen this feature in any other work processor, e.g. MS Word, Libre, OpenOffice?

@HectorB-2020 hello, originally it was users who complained about having to deactivate formatting every time they copied and pasted. But when I looked in Word I realised that this option is already present in the settings, and allows you to define the default behaviour, which is super handy!

I'll let you see if it's something that can be added, but in any case it would be great to be able to choose the default behaviour, especially for a large proportion of users who don't want to keep the formatting.

Thank you very much for your time ;)

Here's a link to a Word faq showing this option

An alternative solution is to use a clipboard manager. I use Ditto which has a shortcut called "Text only paste". You can assign a shortcut such as ctrl+shift+v.

In this way, you can do "text only paste" in any application, including Onlyoffice, MS office, Google Docs, etc.
