Add ability to export file in another format without changing file format

This issue is unique.

  • [X] I have used the search tool and did not find an issue describing my idea.

Your idea.

Spreadsheet editor must be able to export worksheets without trying to re-save the same document with different extension.

Currently there is only "Save as..." menu item which saves opened Spreadsheet document with different extension and file format. After the document has been saved with different format, it is preserved in that format for future saving. This behavior is far from being expected and convenient.

Please add dedicated Export function to Spreadsheet editor which doesn't change current file format and its file extension.

But if you set xlsx as format to save as result will be as you described?

Or could you clarify why you need this feature and if MS Office/LibreOffice has same feature?

When I work with a full featured Spreadsheet with all its nice formatting, I'd like to be able to occasionally export the data to CSV file but stay in the same full featured document format, e.g. xlsx.

Sadly now this is not possible, "save as.." permanently switches to the newly selected file name and type.

And yes, needless to say that LibreCalc and MS Excel have the same feature.
