Label: patient status Parent: information content entity Definition: an information content entity that is about the bearer of a patient role, realized in a health care encounter, and specifies whether the patient is admitted to a hospital as part of the encounter (inpatient) and remains in a hospital facility for at least one night. For the definition above, the label 'inpatient' will be more suited.

'Patient status' is a much broader term which would be anchored around some occurrent - short ones (e.g. Myocardial infarction, catheter insertion) as well as longer ones (e.g. CABG surgery, cystitis).
