For the definition above, the label 'inpatient' will be more suited.
'Patient status' is a much broader term which would be anchored around some occurrent - short ones (e.g. Myocardial infarction, catheter insertion) as well as longer ones (e.g. CABG surgery, cystitis).
Sorry about the late reply. I agree with 'inpatient' as a label.
