Feature Request: Extract code snippets

Extract code snippets to dedicated files to enable sanity checking the code examples

(and to use them as an additional test suit for the tools; if usage and documented usage differ there is at least a documentation bug)

It's a great idea in principle but the effort is significant to implement this properly, esp. when using those code snippets for testing. There's more urgent areas we need to focus on, so closing for now.
