Invoke ticket creation upon e-mail received

I'd like to configure the e-mail channel so that incoming e-mails automatically trigger the creation of a ticket. I haven't found any point of reference that this exists. If it is already, I'd love to find out more about it =)

The alternative is to create tickets manually.

Seconded here. that seems "table stakes" for a helpdesk module in my opinion. What do you think the time / effort to add this would be?
I noticed there was this option to set an email alias when setting up a team, however, there doesn't seem to be any documentation on how exactly this works.
On the incoming mail server, under 'Actions to take with incoming emails', you can configure 'Create a new record' by selecting 'Ticket Helpdesk'.
