how to know either ftp server is able to access or not

how to know either ftp server is able to access or not? I think using 'browse' is not enough. there is no mention if ftp server is not able to access. also it's hard to know why ftp is unable to access.

I can get some infomation from consol log 'Ctrl+`', but hope to notice out somewhere in ST
