Editing saves that was made on a newer version of the game have no effect.

I edited my save long before hotfix 2.1 came up, without any problems. But now when i edit my save it does nothing. When i load save, game still saying that save was modified. But nothing changes. I mean i can put literally anything in the data. Save loads without any glitches or problems, as if nothing happened.

I think something changed on the game side after this couple of hotfixes.

Okay, i did some proper testing.

I have save with version 4.1.1.3630146 I did some changes. It worked!

Then, i loaded the same save. But I saved again so that the version on save was updated. 4.1.4.3636828 Again, changed the same thing. And it had no impact.

I noticed your game is set to Divinity: Original Sin 2 at the top... I made the same mistake at first haha.

It needs to be set to BG3 again with the new release. That should fix your problem.

It has nothing to do with that. I double checked to be sure. You can easily repeat my steps. If you change DB_Origins like I did, the game will crash when loading the save. But if you do these changes on new saves, everything will be fine.

I probably restarted program and loaded edited save to make screenshot. That's why it was set on divinity.

2 days old clean save: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wykp51rZnJ9fUg558G7f78KAvMO2ZHlS/view?usp=sharing

You can load this save, save it again. And try to change something. Then, do the same changes to the old save.

I've had the same issue, so I wanted to see if the game was trying to load from the steam cloud to avoid loading a tampered save, so I disconnected all internet, and still the same thing.

I can confirm the same issue.

Besides disabling steam cloud I also took the save I wanted to edit and replaced an older existing save file, while in a new position in game. That allowed me to confirm that the edited file I had loaded wasn't somehow a cached file from Steam Cloud as I was in a new position.

I've tried editing the data in DB_Ori_Dating, as well as replacing one of the entries in DB_GlobalFlag. When I load the file again in the toolkit after saving it, it shows the changes were indeed made. But as soon as I trigger a full rest in the game which results in an autosave, upon checking that autosave in the toolkit I can see all results have reverted.

That leads me to believe whatever data is being changed by the toolkit, it isn't actually overwriting what the game is reading (though this is just a guess).

Indeed it was broken, v1.18.4 should fix this issue.

Appears to be unfixed with v1.18.4 release, posted in issue #138 as the behavior I'm seeing doesn't match the description in this one (modified saves do not load at all)
