Occasional remove/reconnect messages on OS X

Open oderwat opened this issue 7 years ago • 3 comments

I get some strange messages from the app into the OS X notifications. The stick itself is not removed and my USB hub is a very good one. There are also no messages from the system, which leads me to the conclusion that this is probably a fault in the app. See attached image for an example. It happens usually in such rapid bursts. Usually in the night (the iMac is set to never go into sleep mode besides the display) and just now as I came to the desk. I guess it may have something to do with app nap or anything else related to the power management.

Hi! Power management could play its role here, however Nitrokey App forbids device's sleep by invoking status command on it each 60 seconds. Another reason of the disconnection might be OS background services and/or system updates as well (especially given the hours of occurrence and the second time, when user input was detected). On macOS HID devices/keyboards are disconnected when privileged applications ask for user input (like passwords; it is called Secure Input AFAIR) or needs other, low-level access.

If that would reproduce again, please let me know along with the occurrence time.

My bet is on the Secure Input then. It would be nice if that notification could be switched off... It's not really helpful imho.

This will be possible in v1.3 :-) Should be released until tomorrow.
