I was very interested in Quark because it promised to fix most pain-points I have with Electron. So I'm sad that here was no activity for some months now.

Electron.js is a great way to create desktop applications. It has a huge community and a discord server: https://electronjs.org

It's not slow, but yes, it uses too much resources (because chromium is at least 170mb). Maybe try neutrino? It's not as powerful as electron. Or PWA
